Director General and the Employees of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve Took Part in the Joint Ukrainian-Italian Scientific and Technical Seminar on the Preservation and Restoration of the Historical Monuments
The second day of the Scientific and Technical Seminar “The Preservation and Restoration of the Historical Monuments: from Monumental Paintings to Historic Buildings” was held on November 24, 2015 in the National Conservation Area “Saint Sophia of Kyiv”.
The Seminar began its work with the welcoming speeches of the Deputy Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yuriy Zubko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in Ukraine Fabrizio Romano, as well as of the organizers of the Seminar – the Director of the Italian Trade Agency Alessandro Gerbino, the Director General of the National Conservation Area “Saint Sophia of Kyiv” Nelya Kukovalska and the Director General of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve Lyubomyr Mykhaylyna.
The honorary guests welcomed the participants of the Seminar and wished them a fruitful work and effective mutually beneficial results.
The organizers, in their turn, noted that the idea to carry out a joint restoration seminar in Ukraine arose during the visit of the Ukrainian delegation headed by Directors General of the preserves to Urbino and Ferrara (Italy) in order to participate in the XXII Salon Art of Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. The Director General of the Preserve Lyubomyr Mykhailyna expressed hope that this event will take place in Ukraine on a permanent basis.
Seminar participants from the Italian side, among which there were experts, restorers, architects, construction companies, made presentations on the following topics:
1. Restoration of mosaics, the monitoring of monuments.
2. New technologies in the restoration of different kinds of monuments.
3. Technologies and materials for the restoration and conservation.
4. Restoration of polychrome monumental painting.
5. Diagnostics in the service of restorers.
6. Design and structural assessment of historic buildings.
7. Italian experience in the restoration of historic buildings with monumental painting.
8. Scan and spatial modeling of the works of art.
9. Training of restorers in Italy etc.
In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to take part in bilateral meetings with Italian companies, which caused their professional interest. In particular, such Italian companies as CTS Group, R&C Art, Francese Giuseppe Restauro Opere d'Arte, Tryeco 2.0, Area Progetto Urban, Ediltecnica Global Service, Tecnica Restauri were represented at the Seminar. After negotiations Seminar participants were invited to continue networking during the gala dinner.
