Creative heritage of Malakov brothers
Today’s release of “Memories of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project will complete a series of stories about creative heritage of two brothers - Heorhii and Dmytro Malakov. In our disposal are the photographs of the 1950s from Dmytro Malakov’s archive. Most of the pictures depict a small settlement located south of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was demolished during the construction of the landscape park and “National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War” Memorial complex.

“Memories of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project
We continue our story about Lavra’s watercolors painted by Heorhii Malakov. Most of the artist’s works presented in this release date back to 1950. Along with the watercolors, we would like to show to you some modern photos of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra corners that the artist has once depicted in his paintings. We do this, because some monuments look completely different today (like Dormition Cathedral that was all in ruins then) or have become inaccessible for the visitors. In such situations, old photos or photo collages come to our help.
