We invite you to participate in the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Museums and Restoration in the Context of Cultural Heritage Preservation: Present Day Challenges”, which is scheduled to be held on September 23-24, 2021 at the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” (9 Lavrska Str., Kyiv, 01015).
Did you know that if you were the citizen of Kyiv with some sort of income or the guest of the Kyivan in the early 19th century, you would probably have met hieromonk Hilarion, the gardener of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and made friends with him?
Did you know that in 1766, after Rumyantsev’s General inventory, there appeared the list of Cossacks who served in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra at that time?

Artistic Heritage column continues presenting the paintings of the Refectory Church of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Today we will speak about the medallions located on the arches of the exedras of the Refectory Church. They are adorned with the faces of sixteen Saints. The work was done by the artist Ivan Izhakevych. The names of most of the Saints resonate with the names of the Metropolitans that headed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the 19th century. The hermit Ioannucius the Great, for example, was named after Metropolitan Ioannicius (Rudniev).

This week we are going to present the selection of postcards from the 1960s that depict the architectural monuments of Kyiv-Pechersk State Historical and Cultural Preserve. This name, which the museum institution got in 1962, replaced its previous title, that of “State Preserve-Museum “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”.
