«Revived Ukrainian Treasures» - exhibition of invaluable museum items from the Dormition Cathedral (Fund collection of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve)

The exhibition «Revived Ukrainian Treasures» that demonstrates rare museum items – property of the Dormition Cathedral and part of the Fund collection of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve, is planned to be opened on November 19, 2019 in the Exhibition Hall of the Dormition Cathedral. Opening time of the event is 3:00 pm.
It is for the first time that the visitors will be able to observe unique and restored museum items related to the long-suffering fate of the Dormition Cathedral of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Among the treasures one will see highly-valuable riza – mounting of an icon and memorable item of the 18th c. that was used to decorate «Assumption of the Virgin Mary» icon, part of the main iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral.
Besides, the visitors will have the opportunity to view rare museum items that have been brought to life due to the inspiration and hard work of the archaeologists, museum workers, and restorers. Most of the revived items will be exhibited for the first time.
One more interesting detail of this exhibition is its venue, known as Dormition Cathedral (Grand Pechersk Church). Its rich decor and general grandeur have been the subject of fascination for centuries. On November 3, 1941, the Cathedral was barbarically destructed but emerged from ruins over the time. Today the Grand Pechersk Church that stands as if it has been frozen by time, symbolizes the unity of past, present and future…
Exhibition Address: Kyiv, 9 Lavrska Str., Exhibition Hall of the Dormition Cathedral.
