“WORLD HERITAGE SITES: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES FOR URBAN HERITAGE”

On 10 December 2020 an International Scientific and Practical Online Conference “World Heritage Sites: Sustainable Development Practices for Urban Heritage” will take place at Zoom platform from 11:30 (UTC+02) to 14:30 (UTC+02).

The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the inscription of the World Heritage property “Kyiv: Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Related Monastic Buildings, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” on UNESCO World Heritage List

The organizers are the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve.

The Conference focuses on the issues of the contribution of the World Heritage Cities to Sustainable Development in the framework of the 2015 Policy for the Integration of a Sustainable Development Perspective into the Processes of the World Heritage Convention and the 2019 Culture|2030 Indicators.

Representatives of the World Heritage Centre, invited resource persons and site-managers of some World Heritage Sites, represented by European World Heritage Cities, will share their experience on the prevailing challenge and opportunities for urban heritage to contribute to sustainable development and to enhance the capacities of the World Heritage properties site managers in contributing to prosperous, resilient and peaceful cities.

We invite site managers of urban World Heritage Sites within the European region and the Eastern Partnership countries, representatives of national and local authorities, experts of state institutions, non-governmental and public organizations that operate in this field to join the event as observers and take part in the thematic discussions.
