Photo project “In memory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”
We are glad to present the new release of “In memory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project to you.
In 1949, Yevheniya Mykolayivna Mykhailova, senior researcher associate of the Preserve, composed the album named “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” Kyiv State Preserve-Museum”. The text of the album contains brief information about the history of Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery, the formation of the Preserve in 1926, the resumption of its activities in the postwar period in accordance with the Resolution of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR adopted on May 30, 1944. There are also texts about the Dormition Cathedral, Gate Church of the Trinity, cells of monks (buildings №№ 3, 4), Great Lavra Bell Tower, the Printing House of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the so-called Kovnir Building and bell towers, fortification walls of Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery, Church of the Savior at Berestove and cave complexes. The album is illustrated with the photographs of historical and architectural monuments, which were shot before the Second World War and after it.
The next release of “In memory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project will be dedicated to the guests of “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” State Preserve-Museum that visited it in 1940-1950.
