Curious facts about Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Did you know that in the early 1930's there was a rabbit hutch on the territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra?

The rabbit hutch was located in building № 54 (Office of Hostynny Dvir/Guest House and Hotel Office, built in 1870-1883) and belonged to the State Import and Export Trade Agency of the USSR.

It was there, where specialists cultivated many different breeds of rabbits that were considered the best ones at that time. The entrance to the premises was allowed only for those who had special permits of the State Import and Export Trade Agency.
