Curious facts about Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
Did you know that
on April 21, 1904, the Ecclesiastical Council of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra signed a contract with engineer Kazimierz Sommer, the owner of a technical office in Warsaw, for construction of a reinforced concrete floor, reinforced structures, roof rafters, cast-iron columns, and spiral staircases for the Church of the Annunciation?
The engineer had to receive 23,700 rubles 97 kopiykas for the work. The solemn laying of the foundation stone of a church, designed by architect Yevhen Yermakov, took place on May 21, 1904.
