“In UNESCO Treasury. Krakow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka” Art Photo Exhibition Opened Its Doors

The solemn opening of the “In UNESCO Treasury. Krakow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka” art photo exhibition was held on May 17, 2016. The presentation of the exposition was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Embassy of Poland in Ukraine, Polish Institute in Kyiv and the Polish Diaspora. The welcome speech was given by the Ambassador-At-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhii Reva, Historical and Cultural Preserves Development Head at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Bohdan Motsia, the Director of the Krakow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka Jan Godlovsky, the Director of the Polish Institute in Kyiv Eva Figel and the Head of the Kyiv-based Zhoda National Cultural Association of Polish people Ms Viktoriia Radik, General Director of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve Liubomyr Mykhailyna.

The theme of this year's International Museum Day is “Museums and Cultural Landscapes”, which once again draws attention to the fact that museums can be authors of new research in the field of cultural heritage and active institutions in the protection and conservation of cultural values both inside and outside their walls. In these difficult times for our country, Ukrainian museum workers, more than ever, have to unite their efforts to preserve national cultural heritage and cultural landscapes, because cultural landscape is a human space, a complicated co-cultural system, a cultural identifier of communities live here by determining their special features, specific nature and identity.

Petro Kurinnyi (1894-1972) – historian, archaeologist, ethnographer and museum worker. In 1924-1926 he was director of the Museum of Worship and Life at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (Lavra Museum Worship and Life) and the State Historical and Cultural Preserve “All-Ukrainian Museum Town”, which was created on its foundation (1926-1933).

Fedor Schmitt (1877-1937) – Byzantine scholar, expert of Old Russian art culture, art theory and history, as well as museum worker, academic of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, organizer and director of the Museum of Worship and Life at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (1923-1924).

Record Set At The Preserve: Diamond Pysanka Goes Into The Ukrainian Book Of Records

The representative of the working group from the The Ukrainian Book of Records national project named awarded Preserve staff for the creation of the Diamond Pysanka (Painted Easter Egg). The solemn ceremony was held at the National Kyiv Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve on May 5, 2016. At the awards ceremony the welcome speech was given by Preserve General Director Liubomyr Mykhailyna, the Preserve Museum and Education Head Oleh Topylko and the head of the working group of The Ukrainian Book of Records national project, Ihor Pidchubii.

Velykodnia Kraina Unveiled At The Preserve

The Velykodnia Kraina (Easter Country) holiday fair was opened at the Kyiv National Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve on May 1, 2016. Velykodnia Kraina offers children a maze of obstacles and interactive challenges, traditional Easter games and competitions. Both children and adults have the opportunity to decorate the Easter tree with self-made Pysanky (painted Easter eggs).
