The welcome speech was given by the Ambassador-At-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhii Reva, Historical and Cultural Preserves Development Head at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Bohdan Motsia, the Director of the Krakow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka Jan Godlovsky, the Director of the Polish Institute in Kyiv Eva Figel and the Head of the Kyiv-based Zhoda National Cultural Association of Polish people Ms Viktoriia Radik, General Director of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve Liubomyr Mykhailyna.
The theme of this year's International Museum Day is “Museums and Cultural Landscapes”, which once again draws attention to the fact that museums can be authors of new research in the field of cultural heritage and active institutions in the protection and conservation of cultural values both inside and outside their walls. In these difficult times for our country, Ukrainian museum workers, more than ever, have to unite their efforts to preserve national cultural heritage and cultural landscapes, because cultural landscape is a human space, a complicated co-cultural system, a cultural identifier of communities live here by determining their special features, specific nature and identity.
