Velykodnia Kraina Unveiled At The Preserve

The Velykodnia Kraina (Easter Country) holiday fair was opened at the Kyiv National Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve on May 1, 2016. Velykodnia Kraina offers children a maze of obstacles and interactive challenges, traditional Easter games and competitions. Both children and adults have the opportunity to decorate the Easter tree with self-made Pysanky (painted Easter eggs).

The young researchers presented their findings and discussed pressing issues of history and culture in Ukraine. A dozen reports were heard. During the conference the participants discussed various aspects of the history of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and Preserve – the lives of Saints, the unique cave systems, printing and painting masterpieces, and traditions of pedagogical excellence.

On April 18, 2016, on the International Day of Monuments and Sites and the Day of Monuments of History and Culture of Ukraine, the National Kyiv Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve, in cooperation with the State Agency for Promotion of Culture of Ukraine, presented an exhibition by the Ukrainian artist and Candidate of Art Lesia Maidanets “Velykodni Dzvony” (Easter bells), as well as master classes on Easter eggs painting and engraving.
