Restoration of the monument to Prince Kostiantyn Oleksandrovych Ypsilanti

Dear friends!

We continue to acquaint you with the collection of photo materials of the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”. Today we dedicate them to the restoration of the monument to Prince Kostiantyn Oleksandrovych Ypsilanti (1760-1816), in particular, the unveiling of the memorial that took place on June 29, 1997. The event was attended by the numerous honored guests, including the members of the All-Greek Union of Pontic Officers named after Oleksandr Ypsilanti, who initiated the restoration of the tombstone. The festivities began with a prayer, which was served by both the Lavra’s Brethren and representatives of the Hellenic Orthodox Church.

Next week our photo project will begin the story about the restoration of the Great Pechersk Church, known as Dormition Cathedral, which took place in 1999-2000.
