The representative of the working group from the The Ukrainian Book of Records national project named awarded Preserve staff for the creation of the Diamond Pysanka (Painted Easter Egg). The solemn ceremony was held at the National Kyiv Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve on May 5, 2016.

The Diamond Pysanka was created within the framework of the cultural and educational project Velykodnia Kraina (Easter Country) at Easter, which was celebrated at the Preserve. The Pysanka is decorated with small reflecting particles in a mosaic technique. It is 3.5 metres high, and the size of each reflecting particles is 4x4 cm. The creation of the Diamond Pysanka required 16,000 reflecting particles.

At the awards ceremony the welcome speech was given by Preserve General Director Liubomyr Mykhailyna, the Preserve Museum and Education Head Oleh Topylko and the head of the working group of The Ukrainian Book of Records national project, Ihor Pidchubii.

According to L. Mykhailyna, Diamond Pysanka – from its inception to implementation – was created by the Preserve employees. The employees of the museum and education division and the economic section made a big contribution to the process. Everybody could join the Pysanky creation. It was a pleasure to watch the visitors of the museum complex who also fixed “diamond particles.”

“We are proud of the popularity of the Diamond Pysanka, and also proud of the interest expressed in the art project by representatives of The Ukrainian Book of Records national project. Thank you to everyone who joined this event,” said the Preserve General Director.

O. Topylko said that the feature of the Diamond Pysanka is its ability to reflect the environment – temples, monuments, and museum complex trees. In so doing, this art object became a real gem of the Kyiv National Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve.

I. Pidchubii stressed that in addition to the size of the Diamond structure, you could also document another record – the biggest number of contributors to the creation of a Pysanka. He confirmed the record in the category “Size, First” and awarded the National Kyiv Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve and the Project Manager – Preserve First Deputy General Director Valeriia Panchenko with certificates confirming the uniqueness of the created art object.

The highlight of the holidays was the harmonious and skilful sound of spring time hayivky and vesnianky folk songs performed by the Children's Theatre of Song named Ladonky (art director – Svitlana Sadovenko).
