“Memories of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project

We present to your attention the new release of the “Memories of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project.

As noted in previous releases of the photo project, the staff of the State Preserve-Museum “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” made significant efforts to restore a full-scale exhibition activity in its territory in the first postwar years. During 1946 - 1949, a number of thematic exhibitions were opened. They were dedicated to the outstanding architectural monuments of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, historical events, and art objects from the Preserve collection. The museum workers prepared new lectures and developed different pedestrian routes in order to encourage Kyivans and guests of the city to visit our cultural and educational institution. However, the pre-war rates of museum visitation were achieved only in the early 1950s. As in the 1920s and 1930s, the Preserve was visited mainly by large groups. As exception, special tours were organized for high-level guests.

The next release of the “Memories of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” photo project will be dedicated to the visitors of the State Preserve-Museum “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” in the 1950s.
