ICCROM, ICOMOS and ALIPH Foundation mission visited the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” in the framework of the visit to Ukraine

On July 11, in the framework of the visit to Ukraine, the members of the mission of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM, International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) Ms Aparna Tandon, Ms Teresa Patricio, Ms Zeynep Gül UNAL and Ms Maja Kominko visited the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”.

The purpose of the Mission is to monitor the current situation in the country, in particular, assess the current state of preservation and damage of cultural heritage monuments, provide assistance in organizing work of groups on assessment of losses on-site caused by Russian armed aggression, and conducting an electronic inventory with a longterm aim of attracting funds for renovation.

The Management of the Preserve informed the Mission about the measures taken to secure the movable and immovable monuments of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra ensemble. The delegation visited the monuments that are under restoration and need further funding to complete the restoration works. The parties discussed the most crucial issues of the Preserve activity and its urgent needs.
